After unveiling the Magic Vs foldable at MWC in Barcelona earlier this year, Honor has finally announced its UK price. The smartphone will retail for £1,399. It can also be purchased for just £1,199 on the Hihonor website. The new Honor foldable brings more competition to the foldable segment led by Samsung. And it does so by undercutting the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s £1,649 price.

The Magic Vs is Honor’s first global foldable to be sold outside of China. It is slightly heavier (4 grams) than the Galaxy Z Fold 4, but it is thinner at 12.9 mm than the Samsung foldable. Comes with less creasing due to teardrop hinge design. However, you don’t get a reliable flex mode like the Fold 4 on the Honor smartphone. That being said, the Magic Vs has a larger, more usable lid display. As a result, you also get a 7.9-inch foldable display, which is larger compared to the Fold 4’s 7.6-inch internal display.

Both phones are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in the base variant. The Honor Magic Vs has a triple rear camera, led by a 54 MP primary camera. It is accompanied by an 8MP telephoto lens and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. In contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold gives you a 50MP + 10MP (telephoto) + 12MP (ultrawide) camera setup. I haven’t put them side by side yet for quality, but both are capable of giving you images for your social media.

The Honor Magic Vs has a 5,000 mAh battery compared to the 4,400 mAh cell found on the Samsung foldable phone. It will probably last you longer on a single charge. The smartphone supports 66W fast charging but lacks wireless charging. On the other hand, you get support for 25W charging and wireless charging on the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Honor Magic in relation to price and availability

As mentioned above, the Honor Magic Vs costs £1,399. It goes on sale in the UK from May 19 via the Hihonor website in cyan and black, while the Amazon sale date is set for May 26. It will also be sold to Three “in early June”, with 6 months of free airtime on unlimited data plans.
