The latest racist incident involving Real Madrid player Vinicius Jr has been reported to the Spanish prosecutor’s office as a hate crime, the club said.
Following the game, where the 22-year-old Brazilian was later sent off for violence, he said “La Liga is for racists”.
Real Madrid issued a statement on Monday saying it “considers such an attack a hate crime”.
Spanish judges have now decided to conduct a criminal investigation.
In another statement on social media on Monday, Vinicius said: “What is missing to destroy these people? Is it to punish the clubs through the game? Why don’t the supporters pay La Liga? ?”
He added: “The problem is too big, and the media is no longer working. And accusing me of justifying a criminal act. It’s not football, it’s brutal.”
‘Another illegal territory’ – the Brazilian government
Vinicius has been subjected to racist abuse on several occasions this season and the Brazilian government has described this as “another unacceptable episode”.
His foreign ministry said “it is very sad that, until now, there are no effective measures to prevent and prevent the recurrence of discrimination”.
It urged the Spanish government and sports authorities to “take measures to punish the perpetrators and prevent the repetition of this”.
The ministry added: “It also calls on Fifa, the Spanish Federation and the league to take appropriate measures.”
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Twitter that “there is no tolerance for racism in football”.
He added: “Sports are based on principles of tolerance and mutual respect.
Infantino’s anti-apartheid plan
Fifa President Gianni Infantino said it is time to “Stop talking, start doing” and put forward five principles to combat discrimination.
He said three methods should be used throughout football to deal with incidents of racism in the game – stop the game, stop it again, then stop the game.
He also called for schools to be trained in certain ways, for the team to lose the bus whose fans caused the game to be abandoned, for the stadiums around the world to be banned, and for those found guilty to be prosecuted.
Barcelona coach Xavi called for stronger action, saying: “You have to stop the game… One insult and everyone goes home.”
In a statement, Real Madrid said it “expresses its deep disgust and condemns what happened yesterday against our player Vinicius Junior”.
The club added: “This fact is a direct attack on the model of coexistence of our traditional laws and democracy.”
La Liga said in a statement that it will investigate and take “legal measures” if it becomes aware of a hate crime, and called on the public to provide any relevant information.
said Valencia The police have “found a fan who committed racism” and that “the club is also working with the police to confirm the identity of other possible perpetrators”.
The club added: “Valencia CF has opened a disciplinary case, will take the strongest possible action, including a lifetime ban for the fans involved, and is working closely with the authorities.”
Vinicius and Tebas on Twitter row
Writing on social media after the game, Vinicius said: “The competition that used to be Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano and Messi is today racist.”
He then shared messages with La Liga president Javier Tebas.
Writing on Twitter, Tebas said that Vinicius twice did not go to the meeting to discuss what “to do in case of discrimination”.
“Before criticizing and insulting La Liga, you should inform yourself,” said Tebas.
Vinicius criticized the post for targeting him on behalf of “racists”, saying he wanted La Liga to do “actions and penalties”.
Tebas replied: “Neither Spain nor La Liga is racist, it’s not fair to say that.
“We have reported nine cases of racist abuse this season (eight of which have been against Vinicius). We always identify problematic criminals and take all complaints to the appropriate bodies that have the power to punish them. No matter how few they are. Our efforts are endless. .”
He added: “We cannot allow the history of a competition that is a symbol of community unity, where more than 200 black players from 42 clubs are received with respect and love from fans every week.
“Cases of discrimination are very rare (nine reports) that we are committed to solving.”
Tebas’ comments are called ‘reckless behavior’
However, Luis Rubialesthe president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), called his Brazilian counterpart Ednaldo Rodrigues to the RFEF and asked him to “ignore the reckless behavior of the president of La Liga”.
Rubiales said “we have a serious moral problem; about education, about discrimination” which requires “a strong response from the federal government, but they must allow us to use it and so far it has not been”.
He also said: “The goal we have set for ourselves is that the people who have suffered as soon as possible [racist abuse] sometimes they can say that it is not a problem in Spain. ”
Piara PowarThe head of Europe’s anti-racism organization ‘Fare’, told the BBC that they have recorded 11 cases of racism in stadiums this season and that Spanish football is “in crisis right now”.
“It seems that none of the authorities understand how to respond,” he said. “There is no way to agree on these issues.
“The words of La Liga from Tebas is a story that we have been seeing in all the Spanish newspapers, where people are blaming the victim, the player. It is difficult to understand.
“The law has been confused. No one knows whether the Spanish FA should take action or the government. There is a lack of responsibility and a lack of one organization that comes and says ‘we will do this and see what happens until we see some change’.
“There is a problem when the league loses players [because of racist abuse]so is what Spain wants to do at the World Cup [for 2030] It will look weak because of what is happening in football in this country.”
