Devin Haney successfully defended his lightweight championship against former unification lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko in the main event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. All three judges scored Haney’s fight (116-112, 115-113, 115-113).
“He’s a smart fighter, he supports him in the race…,” Haney said after the fight. “He is a great warrior.”
Lomachenko came in at the end of the match and was listed as a -500 favorite on the live line, but the scorecards did not fall.
“In the past I thought he was a little bit better, but right now, he’s a solid fighter, a good fighter, but not a pound-for-pound fighter,” Lomachenko said.
Haney (30-0, 15 KOs), 24, unified all four major belts with a victory over George Kambosos Jr. in June 2022. Lomachenko, 35, had won three straight before this fight.
