Manchester City are one win away from a third consecutive Premier League title.
So when can Manchester City win the league?
Well, they can do it without kicking another ball.
Arsenal play Nottingham Forest on Saturday (17:30 BST) and a defeat for the Gunners will see City become champions for the fifth time in six years.
Regardless of this result City will win the league – their seventh Premier League win – with a win over Chelsea on Sunday (16:00 BST).
Speaking after their victory, and before the defeat by Arsenal, Guardiola told Sky Sports: “We have done our job by beating them at the Etihad. These two teams have had a special season. It was good to win in the middle of the Real Madrid game.”
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard said he felt there was “no hope now” and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta added: “Mathematically, it’s possible, but today it’s impossible to think about it”.
Simon Gleave, head of sport at Nielsen’s Gracenote, said: “Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat by Brighton has ended the Premier League’s run of play. to 0.6% and recent estimates using the Euro Club Index.
“With the Premier League record almost guaranteed, Manchester City’s chances of winning the Treble have risen to 39% according to our latest estimates.”
Guardiola’s side also have the goal difference – 61 to Arsenal’s 41 – and have won 16 of their last 18 games in all competitions, scoring 56 goals and conceding just nine.
Only one team had 69 points with 10 games remaining – as Arsenal did – and failed to win the title. That was Liverpool in 2018-19, when they finished with 97 points, one behind City.
City are chasing the coveted Treble, with an FA Cup final against rivals Manchester United to come and a Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid to go.
Only one team has ever achieved the Treble in English football, Manchester United in 1998-99.
